OVERVIEW OF AMFI
The Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kenya is a member Institution that was registered in 1999 under the societies Act by the leading Microfinance Institutions in Kenya to build capacity of the microfinance industry in Kenya. AMFI presently has 43 member institutions serving more than 6,000,000 poor and middle class families with financial services through out the country. AMFI is governed by a General Assembly and gets her leadership from a Board of Directors who are experienced practitioners who run some of the leading microfinance Institutions in Kenya. An Executive Committee comprised of the Chair, vice chair, Treasurer and Secretary and three committee members, provides general policy guidelines and directions to the Association.

Our Mission is to build the capacity of the microfinance industry to ensure the provision of high quality financial services to the low-income people and to uphold high ethical standards in the sector.
VISION
Our vision is to create an all inclusive and influential regional network of financial institutions that provide quality microfinance services to low income people
MEMBERSHIP
AMFI membership ranges from large to small institutions which have diverse legal status ranging from microfinance banks, Wholesale MFI's, Retail MFI's, development Institutions and Insurance companies which represent the entire landscape of the microfinance industry in Kenya. Currently we have 43 members with more awaiting appraisal before end of December 2010. Our membership serves over 6 million clients with an outstanding loan portfolio of over US $ 303 million.
GOVERNANCE
The governance structure of the Association comprises of:-

The Executive Board is composed of the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and the Board Treasurer who provide general policy guidelines and directions to the Association.

GOALS AND CORE PROGRAMS
AMFI's Goals and Core programs were developed through a highly participatory process initiated and led by the previous Board which was elected on 17th December 2005. Through, several intense consultative meetings by the members, the Board was mandated to articulate and formalize a 4-point Strategy that has come to be our core programs. In this regard, AMFI aims to support her member Institutions to achieve their mission and objectives, and to help improve the microfinance industry in Kenya and globally through the following core programs:
