The Association of microfinance Institutions of Kenya (AMFI) organized a one day forum on Thursday 24th January 2008 at the Panafric Hotel to discuss on the impact of the post election violence to the Microfinance Industry. The forum brought together over sixty Microfinance Institutions from all over the country including the most affected areas. The forum was co-sponsored by Micro Enterprise Support Programme Trust (MESPT) and the Financial Sector Deepening (FSD Kenya). Moving forward a consultant was hired to collect information and consolidate a report on the impact of the post election violence to the microfinance Industry. The draft report is ready and AMFI has organized a one day forum to disseminate and discuss the report and draw up an action plan on the way forward.
The forum will be held 19th February 2008 at the Kenya Bankers SACCO Centre from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
Following the post election violence and the impact the same has had on the microfinance industry, we have launched a campaign both locally and internationally to raise funds from both our partners and friends to support the affected institutions as well as the MFI clients.
