Amani Biashara Peace Building and Reconciliation Program - 30-06-2009 In an effort to contribute towards Peace in Our Country after the 2007/ 2008 political unrest, AMFI in conjunction with FSD Kenya has initiated training program for Peace Building and Reconciliation across the country.
The 'Amani Biashara' program is developed to equip the Microfinance institutions with skills and knowledge to promote peaceful co-existence at all levels; to enhance individual and institutional understanding of working in conflict situations by improving the practical and analytical skills of MFI officer, impact knowledge and enhance understanding on peace building concepts, principals, tools and define the role of microfinance institutions in conflict prevention and peace building in Kenya.
Through this program over 6 million clients of financial institutions who are AMFI members will be trained. The initiative will be part of MFIs loan program and clients will be encouraged to embrace peace as a business strategy.
It is estimated that each members of the 6 million clients has other two members, and therefore the program will directly target 12 million Kenyan and equip them with peace initiatives.
This will be done during the institutions contact with the clients on continuous basis and is taking place at the provincial level.
