Credit Management & Risk Assessment Training for Microfinance & Digital Credit Providers

                                Consultancy Terms of References (ToRs)

  1. Background

The microfinance and digital credit lending sectors are rapidly evolving in response to technological advancements, market demands, and regulatory frameworks. While these developments offer significant opportunities for financial inclusion, they also pose new risks. Strengthening institutional capacity in credit management and risk assessment is crucial for sustainable growth and operational resilience.

Credit Management & Risk Assessment training aims to equip participants with the advanced tools, methodologies, and frameworks necessary for managing credit portfolios and assessing risks in dynamic market conditions to;

  • To improve credit evaluation skills
  • To strengthen portfolio quality
  • To enhance risk identification & mitigation
  • To enhance financial sustainability
  1. Objectives of the Assignment

The primary objective is to provide a high-level, practical, and interactive training for senior managers and professionals from MFIs and digital lenders, focusing on:

  • Advanced credit assessment methodologies
  • Credit portfolio management
  • Risk identification, analysis, and mitigation strategies
  • Digital credit risk modelling
  • Compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements
  1. Scope of Work

The Consultant shall be responsible for:

  • Designing a training curriculum tailored to MFIs and digital credit provider
  • Delivering a 3-day high-level in-person training workshop
  • Preparing comprehensive training materials and case studies
  • Facilitating practical group exercises and scenario analyses
  • Conducting pre- and post-training evaluations
  • Providing a final report with recommendations and observations
  1. Deliverables
  • Training curriculum and agenda- to be presented for approval prior to the training
  • Participant training manual and presentation slides
  • Practical tools and templates for credit and risk management
  • Pre- and post-training assessment results
  • Final training report, including feedback, lessons learned, and strategic recommendations
  1. Duration and Location
  • The assignment duration will be 4 days including preparation, delivery, and reporting.
  • The training session will be conducted at a venue to be communicated.
  1. Consultant Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in credit management and financial risk assessment in the financial service sector landscape
  • Demonstrated expertise in the microfinance and fintech sectors
  • Proven experience in conducting similar training and capacity-building programs in the field
  • Strong understanding of microfinance and digital credit ecosystems and risk frameworks
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and report-writing skills
  1. Reporting line

The Consultant will work and report to the Program Manager – AMFI-K and closely with designated personnel from DSIK throughout the assignment period.

  1. Application Requirements

Interested consultants are required to submit the following:

  • A technical proposal detailing the approach, methodology, and work plan
  • Financial proposal
  • Updated CV(s) of the lead trainer and supporting team (if any)
  • At least two references from similar assignments
  • Sample training materials (optional but preferred)
