ADVANCING WOMEN’S ACCESS TO FINANCE

Expanding access to finance for women-led enterprises remains a critical driver of inclusive economic growth. In recognition of this, AMFI-K continues to champion initiatives that strengthen financing opportunities for women entrepreneurs, including active participation in the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code (WE-Finance Code).

The Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code (WE-Finance Code) is a global commitment by financial service providers, regulators, banks, and financial ecosystem players to work collaboratively to increase funding to WMSMEs. The Code recognises that improving access to finance for women entrepreneurs requires not only capital, but also better gender-disaggregated, detailed, timely, and high-quality data to inform product design, policy, and investment decisions.

A core pillar of the WE-Finance Code is supporting financial institutions to better understand the women’s market through improved data collection and analysis. The Code provides tools to support the analysis of data on access to and usage of credit and deposit services by women-owned enterprises, strengthening evidence-based decision-making across the financial sector.

AMFI-K is proud to be among the champions of the WE-Finance Code, supporting its implementation within the microfinance sector. As part of this role, AMFI-K is actively supporting and advocating for the onboarding of our members into the Code, encouraging adoption of its principles and promoting data-driven approaches to serving women entrepreneurs.

Through its engagement with the WE-Finance Code, AMFI-K continues to support members to strengthen their understanding of the women entrepreneurs’ market, improve data practices, and expand access to finance for women-led enterprises. This initiative aligns with the Association’s contribution to a more equitable financial ecosystem where women-led enterprises can access the financing they need to thrive.
