AMFI-K continues to support the development and delivery of housing microfinance solutions aimed at expanding access to affordable housing for low- and middle-income households. Through ongoing collaboration with key partners, the Association has been supporting BIMAS Kenya and SMEP Microfinance Bank (SMEP MFB) during the pilot phases of their housing microfinance products, Nyumba Bora and Nyumba Poa.
The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Habitat for Humanity International, with the goal of enabling financial institutions to provide tailored financing solutions that support incremental home construction and improvement. These housing microfinance products are designed to help households gradually build, renovate, or upgrade their homes in a way that aligns with their financial capacity.

By supporting the pilot implementation of Nyumba Bora and Nyumba Poa, AMFI-K is helping the participating institutions refine product design, strengthen operational processes, and better understand the housing finance needs of their clients. The lessons generated from the pilot phase will inform the potential scaling of these products to reach more households across the country.
Through such partnerships and product innovations, AMFI-K continues to contribute to expanding access to housing finance while strengthening the role of microfinance institutions in addressing Kenya’s housing challenges.
