EXPANDING ACCESS TO WATER AND SANITATION: AMFI-K’S WASH INITIATIVE

Access to clean water and proper sanitation is fundamental to health and economic development. Through a strategic partnership between Water.org and the Association of Microfinance Institutions Kenya (AMFI-K), financial institutions are now better equipped to provide affordable water and sanitation solutions to communities across Kenya.

The WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) program empowers financial institutions to develop and offer financing solutions that make clean water and improved hygiene accessible to more households and businesses. By enrolling in this initiative, financial institutions actively bridge the gap in water and sanitation access, fostering healthier communities and enhancing economic opportunities.

Recently, staff from Yehu, Jawabu, and Rafiki microfinance institutions underwent specialized training on sales and marketing strategies for WASH products. This training strengthens their ability to promote and finance water and sanitation solutions effectively. By equipping financial professionals with the necessary skills, AMFI-K and Water.org ensure that more people benefit from safe and sustainable WASH services.

As AMFI-K continues to champion financial inclusion, the WASH program stands as a vital step toward improving livelihoods through access to essential services. AMFI-K members who have not yet enrolled in this transformative initiative are encouraged to join and become part of the movement for better water and sanitation solutions in Kenya.
